I have had little time to work on this program of late. The other programs we create and the other unrelated business venture we do (www.cityboxers.com) have had both of us extremely busy.
Now, Zack Version 3 is pretty close to completion, but there are some issues we are have that will require a lot of study time. We do use Version 3 at the office and it is extraordinarily helpful in our business but, like I said, there are some nasty things that need to be fixed before it is ready for prime time.
These issues are as follows:
* Zack can be used to send emails to groups, individuals and does allow for importing data from within an entities record to fill information 'fields' within the email. The problem we are having is getting the email 'addon' we use to work with dialup, LAN, DSL and any other means of accessing the internet. I think we will have to look at other solutions for this. We did not write this portion of the program, only the interface to use what we bought as an 'addon'. Unfortunately, it is not a very good 'addon' in that it has trouble when being used with Windows XP and Windows 2000 Pro. Works fine when used on a Windows 98 computer (which is what we have at our office). * We are trying to improve the calendaring aspect of the program and it is quite complicated. Calendar entries can come from a number of different areas, i.e., special dates and holidays from an entities record (of which there can be thousands), holidays in general, to do list dates, mail label production dates, etc. All of this needs some tender loving care.
Other than these two important areas, it is pretty close to completion. I just don't know when it will be ready. Frankly, this program was written primarily to help us in our business activities and we are using it now with great success. Getting it on the market seems to be something that takes second chair to our more important business needs that are becoming more and more time consuming. Nevertheless, I do want to finish this, so it will get done sooner or later. |
